Our perception of the world is partially filled with illusions. We think one thing, but reality says another. We want one thing, but life offers another. We see one thing, but in reality—is it the same?
Looking at the painting—what do you see in the center? And what's nearby? And above? And below? And what's there, in the depths? And even further?
This work is a visual puzzle where each viewer sees their own. The central white form could be a vessel, a face, a window, a portal—or something entirely different. Vertical stripes create rhythm, but they sometimes merge with the background, sometimes come to the foreground. Orange, black, white, brown flows intertwine, creating a multi-layered space without clear perspective.
Where does the gaze look? What's in front and what's behind? The painting plays with perception—what seemed like background suddenly becomes the main element. What seemed like form dissolves into lines. This is illusion—the changeability of perception, the dependence on how we look. As a psychotherapist, I know how fragile the line between reality and illusion can be. This painting explores that liminal space where certainty dissolves. The layered textures mirror the layers of our psyche — what we show, what we hide, what we believe to be true."
The work is executed in oil with clear, structural brushstrokes. The canvas texture shows through the paint, adding an additional layer of visual complexity. This is not just abstraction—it's an invitation to explore, ask questions, see differently.
"Illusions" is a work about how we perceive reality. About how truth depends on the angle of view. About how illusion and reality are sometimes indistinguishable.
Ideal for intellectual spaces—studies, libraries, studios, galleries, and creative agency offices. The work provokes reflection and discussion—"What do you see here?"—and is suitable for contemporary interiors that value conceptuality. Its square or vertical format makes it versatile for various wall types. It's especially appealing in spaces where people spend time, looking closely and discovering new details with every glance.
Our understanding of the world is partly filled with illusions. We think one thing, but reality says another. We want one thing, but life offers another. We see one thing, but in reality it is the same?
