A lone traveler wearily trudges through the mountains. Somewhere around the bend, he sees a glimmer of light. He quickens his pace and finally sees bright light. The light captivates, vibrates, beckons. Everything around reflects its extraordinary glow. Yes, this is the place the traveler has been heading toward for so long.
I look at this light and I too want to go there. Something mysterious lurks there, but certainly—it's worth going. And perhaps even staying there.
The work is executed in oil with blurred, flowing brushstrokes. Vertical flows of blue, turquoise, and green create the sensation of a gorge, tunnel, or passage between rocks. Dark areas on the left are shadows of mountains or canyon walls through which the traveler breaks. The central light area is a bright, almost blinding spot of light at the end of the path.
Golden-orange accents around the light create an effect of radiance, a halo—as if the light source is beyond the visible, but its reflection colors everything around. The palette of cool and warm tones creates contrast—the cold of the journey and the warmth of the destination.
