I conceived a series of paintings about wind. And this wind fuels the flame. The wind intensifies, and the fire consumes more and more objects in its path. The wind blows in another direction, and the flame rushes after it. The wind subsides, and the flame is tamed. Doesn't it seem as if the painting scorches, about to break free from its frame and rage?
I painted this work a few days before the California wildfires...
Diagonal flows of orange, ochre, and black create a sense of rapid movement—this is the wind driving the flame. Tongues of fire intertwine with dark smoke, white flashes—sparks or moments of peak burning temperature. The composition is dynamic, unstable—it seems the fire will burst beyond the canvas.
The work is executed in acrylic with energetic, sweeping brushstrokes. The technique conveys the chaos of the elements—there is no control here, only movement, force, and destruction. The light background intensifies the sensation of heat, as if the air is scorched by flames.
"The wind that fuels the flame" is a work about the power of natural elements, about how wind and fire create a dangerous alliance. About the beauty and terror of uncontrolled force. About a premonition of catastrophe that sometimes materializes in art before it does in reality.
For bold interiors that value drama and energy. A modern living room, study, loft, or gallery. This piece draws attention and creates tension in the space—it's not a backdrop, but a focal point. The horizontal format is perfect for placing above a fireplace (irony!), a sofa, or in a spacious hallway. It's especially striking on light walls, where the contrast of dark and orange creates maximum impact.
