It was winter. Cold, long, with heavy snow. I was already longing for warmth, for spring. And suddenly, in my mind's eye, I saw a rose—a beauty trapped in ice. Looking at the picture, it seemed to me that it was trembling from the cold, wanting to break free, to fly, to flutter, spreading its leaf-wings. But the frost had already bound it. That's how this picture was born.
